At KEILYN, we offer a variety of lessons for all skill and age levels. We are building our reputation by providing our students with quality instruction, quality horses in top condition, quality tack that is well cared for and a facility that keeps improving. Our students, well trained in modern riding skills and techniques, are our best endorsement!

  • EVALUATION LESSON (Non-jumping - ½ Hour Private)

Each student new to KEILYN is given an evaluation lesson to determine which training level is best for that student. All students with little or no riding experience are taught with the horse attached to a lead or lunge line during the evaluation period.

  • PRE-TRAINING LEVEL (Non-jumping - ½ Hour Private)

This level is for students who have little or no riding experience and consists of a 25-minute private lesson, usually on a lead or lunge line, with a five minute allowance for mounting and dismounting. The student then progresses to working at the walk, trot and canter without the lead or lunge line.

  • GROUP LEVEL I (Walk, Trot and Canter - 1 Hour)

This is a Beginner Walk, Trot and Canter Lesson consisting of 50 minutes of training at the walk, sitting trot, posting trot and canter, with a five minute allowance for mounting and dismounting. The student, at the instructor's discretion, may work without stirrups and may walk, trot and canter over poles. Safety, position and horsemanship are stressed.

  • GROUP LEVEL II (Beginner Jumping - 1 Hour)

This is a Beginner Jumping Lesson consisting of 20 minutes on the flat at the walk, trot and canter, and 20 minutes working on elementary jumping skills over 1' to 2' fences. A 10-minute allowance is made for warming up at the beginning of the lesson and cooling down at the end. Students will be expected to work at the trot without stirrups for a short time during each lesson.

  • GROUP LEVEL III (Intermediate Jumping - 1 Hour)

This is an Intermediate Jumping Lesson consisting of 20 minutes on the flat at the walk, trot and canter, and 20 minutes working on more advanced jumping skills over 2' to 2'6" fences. A 10-minute allowance is made for warming up at the beginning of the lesson and cooling down at the end. Equitation skills are stressed and students will be expected to work without stirrups for a short time during each lesson.

  • GROUP LEVEL IV (Advanced Jumping - 1 Hour)

This is an Advanced Jumping Lesson for students who are proficient with flat work at the walk, trot and canter. The riders must have a secure position over fences, must be able to work extensively without stirrups and must not interfere with the horse. This lesson consists of 20 minutes on the flat at the walk, trot and canter as well as 20 minutes working on advanced jumping skills over 2'9" fences including oxers, spreads and in-and-outs. A 10-minute allowance is made for warming up at the beginning of the lesson and cooling down at the end. The Advanced students also work on higher equitation skills such as the counter canter, turn on the forehand and are expected to jump small fences without stirrups.

  • GROUP LEVEL V (Show Rider Jumping - 1 ½ Hour)

This is an Advanced Jumping Lesson for students who are preparing for horse shows. It consists of 30 to 40 minutes of flat work at the walk, trot and canter with emphasis on equitation skills for medal-class showing. This level also consists of 40 to 50 minutes working on advanced jumping skills and extensive course-work over fences from 2'6" to 3'6" in height. A 10-minute allowance is made for warming up at the beginning of the lesson and cooling down at the end. This lesson will usually include six to eight riders.

Private lessons are available for students with special problems or that need individual attention. These lessons are available for students at all levels, on an as-needed basis. For the advanced rider, the lessons consist of 25 minutes of riding with a five minute allowance for warming up and cooling down. For the beginner rider, private lessons consist of 20 minutes of riding with a 10-minute allowance for mounting, dismounting and taking care of the horse since this requires the assistance of the instructor.

  • SEMI-PRIVATE

Semi-private lessons include two students and consist of 20 minutes of flat work at the walk, trot and canter as well as 20 minutes of work over fences at the height appropriate for both students. A five minute allowance is made for warming up at the beginning of the lesson and cooling down at the end.
